39 Essential Oil Blends for Your Diffuser

We all know air fresheners are bad. They are full of yucky chemicals that don’t eliminate bad odors – they just mask them with a synthetic fragrance. They can cause headaches and fill your home and lungs with toxic combinations of unknown chemicals.

In fact, many people are allergic to air fresheners and scented candles. My husband is one of them. We hadn’t been married long when he banned all scented candles, spray air fresheners, plug in scent warmers, potpourri – anything that was made in a factory as a way to make your home smell good.

So, I wasn’t sure what his reaction would be when I brought home a diffuser and started making my own essential oil cocktails to mist in the air. I was so excited when he didn’t start sneezing or get a headache. He actually enjoyed them and asks me often to put his favorite oils in the diffuser.

What exactly does diffusing essential oils do? It cleans AND purifies the air. It doesn’t just mask the smell. It actually cleanses the air in your home. It also works therapeutically to adjust the mood in our spaces.  We use specific oils to combat moodiness, increase energy and vitality, encourage rest and relaxation and make our home smell good.

We recently moved into our new home and my 10 year old daughter said, “This house doesn’t smell like us.” It was true – you could tell that the people who lived here before us were big fans of the air freshener aisle. After about of week of cleaning with our essential oil homemade cleaners and diffusing all of our favorite essential oil blends for diffuser – she said, “Our house smells like us now!”

It’s recommended that you diffuse 3 x day for about 30 min at a time. Typically you’ll use a total of 4-8 drops in your diffuser. Be sure to clean your diffuser about once a week by wiping the inside with rubbing alcohol.

Don’t have a diffuser? You NEED one -actually we have one for just about every room in our home. We love this one and this one.
